Increasingly, designers, artists, scientists and others are looking at the sustainability of the materials that make up our goods. But in reality, the majority of essential objects that surround us and continue to be designed
are made of materials that are not sustainable and environmentally friendly such as plastic. « Currently, we incinerate 4 % of our plastic waste, a process that releases cancer-causing toxins into the air, soil and water.
By 2030, Canada is expected to burn up to 20 % of its plastic waste. »
But why not look at a material that is truly sustainable in all its forms ?
The answer might be found right under our feet : mycelium.
